Since the establishment NSPO has been emphasizing quality management and reliability withtop priority . The fact that ROCSAT-1 has been operating for more than five years after launch, longer than the mission life of two years, provides proof of NPSO's quality . The NSPO has reorganized last year as a nonprofit organization and also initiated it's the second phase long-term space program earlier this year. To continue its emphasis on quality management and to prepare and plan for international operations in the future, NPSO has actively applied for the third party certification of ISO 9001 quality management system.

ISO 9001 is an international standard of quality management system. It is a certification that signifies the products and services provided by an organization have met certain quality standards. NPSO's quality management system uses the 2000 version of ISO 9001 as the baseline. In addition, NSPO also incorporated the special requirements specified in Advanced Quality Systems, such as AS 9100, NASA, and ESA, which are unique to the space industry.

The certification agency, British Standards Institution (BSI), is the leader of global quality service organization. BSI was registered in London, England in 1901 and had received the British Royal appointment as the organization for establishing national standards in 1929. BSI was also the first organization to issue the quality management standards, BS 5750. Today, BS 5750 has evolved into the well-known ISO 9001 international standard. BSI is considered as the most credible agency with the highest certification quality. With more than 25% of the global market share, BSI's leadership and professionalism in service quality system certification are unquestionable.

After passing the stringent auditing conducted by the well-experienced and IRCA (International Register of Certificated Auditors) certified auditors, NSPO has successfully received ISO 9001 certification. On June 15, 2005 (?) NPSO held ISO 9001 certification ceremony in National Applied Research Laboratories' first conference room in Taipei. Mr. Duncan Lilley, President of BSI Asia Pacific Operations, personally attended the ceremony and awarded NSPO with the IS 9001 certification. From this point on, NSPO has reached new milestone in quality management.
